Recent changes emerging in many parts of the world have easily manipulated tourism movements with their positive and negative aspects. The outbreak of Covid-19 is one of the last examples of such a situation, and its consequences are still unknown. In the new normal world order, it has become inevitable that fundamental developments and changes occur in the fields of tourism management, tourism marketing, tourism investments, cooperation opportunities for tourism activities, tourist consumer trends, tourism education, tourism planning, and policies. These possible changes and developments necessitate the development of new approaches, theories, and studies as well as existing field research. In this increasingly competitive environment, harmonization and development of applications in the tourism sector with research studies is an important process.
In this context, “International Congress of Emerging Trends in Tourism” will be held in the ancient city of Konya with its historical and cultural values besides its advanced infrastructure. The congress hosted by Necmettin Erbakan University, Faculty of Tourism, with the cooperation of Konya Metropolitan Municipality is planned for three days from 30 September - 02 October 2021. The congress aims to serve as a scientific platform where new marketing strategies, organizational skills, collaborations, developing and transforming technological approaches, changing consumer trends and new formations in the tourism industry will be discussed.
The congress with its international attribute is designed to comprise wider participation from all over the world with a high opinion of significant contributions to sectoral applications apart from its academic output. The bilingual congress in both Turkish and English will accept participation from academics conducting research in tourism and related fields, graduate students, tourism sector professionals, public institutions/organizations, and representatives of non-governmental organizations. In addition to presentations, panels will also be organized to ensure sector cooperation for discussions over current issues.
The events are planned to be held face to face. Nonetheless, in line with the pandemic settings and the decisions taken, this may be changed into totally online or a hybrid mode to also enable those participants who cannot travel to join.
